Major Contract for Weir Power and Industrial

China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC) has announced that it has awarded contracts to Weir Power & Industrial France to supply safety valves to four new nuclear power plants in China, two of which are in Fuqing, located in the Fujian Province, and two in Fangjiashan, located in the Zhejiang Province.

These contracts are for SEBIM pilot operated safety valves for the protection of the primary reactor heat removal and chemical/volumetric control circuits.

These major contracts are the result of a long and fruitful partnership, dating back to 1990, between Weir Power and Industrial France and CNPEC.

Weir equipment is a key factor in assuring the protection of the nuclear power plant, and therefore needs to be of the very highest standards in accuracy and reliability rates for the plant.

CNPEC has also invested in its future with long-term maintenance installations, also provided by Weir Power and Industrial, including the training of all of their technicians who use Weir products.

In order to maintain our role as the preferred supplier, Weir has developed and qualified our equipment for the new third generation reactors.  Our new products are smaller and more compact but remain a key design in reinforcing the security of the nuclear power plant.
