Weir Power & Industrial India makes leap forward

The Weir Power & Industrial Emerging Markets operation in India has seen sales output grow by over 100% in the last twelve months. The success is due to a number of factors, including the drive and focus the team has placed on the pump upgrade and overhaul business, as well as the introduction of valve sales into the operation.

The Indian market looks set to become the world’s second largest market, after China, for power generation projects. In order to capitalise on the growing prospects in the territory, the Indian operation has been busy focusing on how best to maximise the opportunities. This includes making key additions to the team, recently appointing V. Ramachandran as Valve Sales Manager and P.B. Venkat as Business Development Manager.

Weir Power and Industrial Services based in Bangalore, has also been busy securing OHSAS 18001 certification for occupational health and safety compliance and ISO9001: 2008 (Upgrade) quality management systems certification.

Andrew Will Sales & Marketing Director for the Weir Power & Industrial Emerging Markets team said, “The future looks very bright indeed for the Indian operation as the pace increases in the territory on new build power generation projects, particularly for the nuclear sector. Over the last twelve months the operation has been busy laying the foundations for future success and it’s great to see that these are already coming to fruition.”
