Weir Power and Industrial South Africa Success
Weir Power & Industrial’s South Africa team has had an
excellent first half with order input increasing by more than 35%
and sales output performance up 15%.

The team is based at the Wadeville service operation, a shared
facility with Weir Warman (minerals) from where shutdown service
and workshop overhaul activity is managed. The current market
trend to repair rather than replace equipment has driven a lot of
the service centres growth, with work being completed at the
Hendrina, Arnot, Grootvlei, Kriel, Matla and Camden Power Stations
during the first half of the year.
The South African service team is now working with the Weir
Power & Industrial Service Centre in Alloa to introduce main
steam stop valve in-situ seat replacement technology, which was
developed a few years ago for the UK market. The technology
allows the upgrade of valves that cannot be removed from the
pipeline.
Jimmy Georgiou General Manager of Weir Power and Industrial
South Africa says “ the in-situ seat replacement technology has
been a real success with the customers and we’re very excited about
adopting it to help our customers here in South Africa.”
