Growing wind energy capability
Weir Power & Industrial’s Alloa Service Centre in the UK are
embracing opportunities to provide excellent engineering solutions
and customer focussed service to the onshore wind industry.
A comprehensive programme of customer engagement to establish
long term strategic needs is in place, supported by specific local
initiatives, including the development of the existing technical
team. As part of the development, a team from Alloa recently
attended the Danish Wind Academy where they successfully completed
a course involving the maintenance and repair of wind turbine gear
boxes. A major programme of capital investment is in place at Alloa
to provide a new dedicated area for the maintenance of wind
turbines.
